CORNWALL
REGIONAL TASK FORCE / LE GROUPE DE TRAVAIL REGIONAL DE CORNWALL (ON)
The
CRTF’s mandate is to enforce the law along the controlled-uncontrolled
borders, gather intelligence, interdict the flow of contraband, and conduct
criminal investigations into the illegal activities related to the smuggling
of contraband.
The
CRTF is made up of Police officers from RCMP, OPP and CCPS (Cornwall Police)
Formerly
Cornwall Customs and Excise Branch, the CRTF was established in and around
March 2010. It is comprised of SD&G OPP, Cornwall Community Police
and RCMP. We provide 24 hour Policing service, basically a very large area
from Cardinal Ont to the Quebec border and from the St. Lawrence River
to Ottawa River. Our mandate is enforcing the Excise Act 2001 (illegal
tobacco), drugs, and human smuggling also. We are a border integrity unit
and have approximately 40 members. We are kept very busy, mostly with the
tobacco trade involving organized crime groups. |
